So, if you found a hot girl somewhere that was naked, gagged, and trying to bite you, just what would YOU do with her?….

Deadgirl (2008)
Directed By: Marcel Sarmiento & Gadi Harel

The Prologue
I think we’ve already seen that I’ll watch just about anything at least once. I’ve sit through some stinkers and some great films but in the mix with all this I’ve ran across some really weird and twisted films. After watching Deadgirl I wonder now if there is anything more “out there” and twisted than this.

But don’t get it wrong, Deadgirl isn’t just shock value, there’s a lot things going on in this film. And if you can get past the shock of just what you’re seeing I think you’ll have a pretty good time with it.

The Movie
Two high school boys discover an imprisoned woman in an abandoned mental asylum who cannot die. Frustrated with their lives and the fact they won’t “get anything better than this” one sparks up the idea to keep the girl (can we call her a real girl?) for his own personal sex slave!..One that he even openly shares with his friends.

Now let me get past my only real complaint with this movie right out the gate. Just what kind of person would find a girl gagged, naked, looking to be near death and decide that the only logical thing to do is have sex with her? While it’s never really out right said from what I remember I think the character of J.T. (the one wanting to keep her as a sex slave) is more than likely in the process of trying to do something he shouldn’t when she attempts to bite him and he figures out that she can’t be killed. While that is my only real complaint, I guess we can just pass it off by stating that these boys caught up in this aren’t really the most logical or normal people either.

Caught up in the middle of the plot is another element to the story as our main guy Rickie (who is the most likable but not hardly normal himself) is head over heels for the school’s star athlete’s girlfriend JoAnn. It appears as the movie goes along that it’s his love and hope for JoAnn eventually coming around that keeps him from taking part in the sexual activities with the girl they find. However, this love for JoAnn also gives him more to worry about than just what his best friend and other pal Wheeler (who J.T. lets join in with the girl) are doing to the poor girl that won’t die, he has worry about jealous jocks as well.

There really is some sick stuff that goes on and are said in this film but as horrible as it may come across in a moral sense you get the idea it’s all just done in some sick twisted fun spirited way. It may come as a bit of a shock to you to hear this, but there are some serious laugh out loud moments in this film.

Plus there’s just no way you could talk about Deadgirl without bringing up the performance of Jenny Spain who plays the dead girl herself. While naturally the girl doesn’t speak a word in this film there’s ton that gets said with just the eyes and the actions of the dead girl and not just anyone could pull this off, so kudos to Jenny. There isn’t any horrible acting at all in this thing but I do believe she’ll stick out a lot to you as you watch and not just because she’s naked the whole time.

All in all if you can get past all the wrong that takes place in this film you have a film very well worth the watch. You also can’t say enough about the originality that this film brings. That being said, there’s a lot more I’d like to say about Deadgirl but due to me never wanting to have spoilers in my reviews, at this time I just can’t. So look for another entry about this film sooner than later.

The Conclusion
Would I be off to call it a bit of a reverse I Spit On Your Grave?? Sure we are never for certain just what the girl is in the Deadgirl but we do see a woman that is forced to stay in one place and endure days and days of rape. Which at times can be hard to watch but I recommend this movie anyway.

The ending is also a very haunting one as well, but one that I think fits none the less. I think given the elements of the story and the personality of everyone involved it’s probably the most realistic of ending a film like this could have.

PLUS! We leave room for a sequel!
